Med Tone Records proud to present ‘My Roots Girl’, new riddim feat. new songs from reggae legends Cornel Campbell and Daddy U-Roy, backed by the Med Tone All Stars Band.
My Roots Girl
The original gorgon, Cornel Campbell, is back with 'My Roots Girl', a new rocksteady lovers song voiced over an original riddim by the Med Tone All Stars band.
Due to the authentic rocksteady sound and the beautiful voice of Mr. Campbell, it's hard to believe this song was recorded in 2016 instead of about 50 years ago.
My Ethiopian Queen
Our second tune over this riddim featuring Daddy U-Roy, the master toaster and the inventor of the Jamaican dj style.
'My Ethiopian Queen’ is a classic dj version to Cornell's song that takes the listener back to the early days of reggae music.
Rootical Skank
Heavy weight dub version feat. the Med Tone All Stars Band. This dub version mixed by Asaf Smilan in the style of King Tubby's early works using analog effects such as reverb, delay and hi pass filter.
Queen Of Sheba
A bountiful instrumental version by the master guitarist Ilan Smilan, playing a beautiful calypso melodies in the style of the great Ernest Ranglin and Lynn Taitt.
This riddim was recorded and mixed at the Med Tone recording studio with analog tape machine and vintage gear that can reproduce the original Jamaican sound from the early 1970's.
